'Top Three in the World' announced in five separate categories
The road to the 2016 World Car Award, which began with the announcement of eligible vehicles at the Frankfurt Motor Show last September, entered its final leg today with the reveal of 'Top Three in the World' finalists in five separate categories at the Geneva Motor Show.
The winners will be revealed at a press conference as part of the New York International Auto Show on March 24, which will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of the partnership between World Car and the New York show, and the third consecutive year of the World Car Awards (WCA) ranking as the number one automotive awards program in the world in terms of media reach.
A jury of 73 international automotive journalists from 22 countries, who form a global community of experts, selected the finalists by secret ballot based on their evaluations of each candidate. As part of the process, several of the jurors evaluated vehicles not available in their own country at a drive event organized by the WCA in Los Angeles during that city's auto show.
Following are the 'Top Three in the World' finalists for each of five categories of the 2016 World Car Awards: World Car of the Year; World Luxury Car; World Performance Car; World Green Car; and World Car Design. (Shown here is the 2015 World Car of the Year - the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.)
